Honoring Our Heroes: Blue Star Mothers Host Annual Veterans Barbecue in Corona

On Saturday, June 28, 2025 the Blue Star Mothers of America Chapter 30 brought the community together for their annual Veterans Barbecue at the Corona Vet Center. With patriotic decorations, smiling faces, and the aroma of grilled favorites filling the air, the event welcomed close to 100 veterans for a heartfelt afternoon of gratitude, good food, and fellowship.

A Community United in Gratitude

Under a canopy of red, white, and blue, volunteers welcomed veterans with smiles, conversation, and an unmistakable sense of appreciation. Flags waved in the summer breeze, tables were dressed in patriotic décor, and the air was filled with the aroma of grilled burgers and fresh-off-the-grill fare. For the veterans in attendance, it was more than just a lunch—it was a warm and personal thank-you from their community.

Veterans Gather for Food, Fellowship, and Thanks

With nearly 100 veterans in attendance, the Vet Center lawn became a place of camaraderie and shared experience. From World War II to more recent service members, veterans of all backgrounds enjoyed a classic cookout served by dedicated volunteers from multiple community groups. There were handshakes, hugs, and stories exchanged across the picnic tables—proof that a good meal and a kind word can go a long way in honoring service.

Girl Scouts Lead with Pride in Flag Ceremony

Adding a special touch to the day, a local Girl Scout troop presented the California state flag in a proud and respectful color guard ceremony. The young leaders, dressed in their uniforms and white gloves, reminded attendees that patriotism and service are values being passed on to the next generation.

Volunteers Make It All Happen

From early morning setup to serving plates and manning the grill, the event was made possible by dozens of dedicated volunteers. Blue Star Mothers, Gold Star Mothers, and members of the broader community worked together with joy and purpose. Their red shirts and ready smiles created an atmosphere of unity and compassion. The teamwork was evident at every station—from food service lines to hospitality tables.

More Than a Meal—A Day of Connection and Respect

While the barbecue offered delicious food and friendly conversation, its true purpose was deeper: to give veterans a space to be seen, celebrated, and appreciated. It was a day that reminded everyone that service to country leaves a lifelong impact—and that gratitude doesn’t expire.

To all who served and all who supported this meaningful day, thank you.
